And baby you can’t tell me jack..

From first hand experience, I can sincerely say that you cannot sincerely say you’ve been “extremely busy lately” until you’ve had anything even remotely similar to simultaneously running two part-time jobs, while being a full-time university student, and being the mother (or father) of a two-year old to whom you have sole-custody over. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Speaking to my bus100 T.A. casually on thursday, he told me I’m a great student, one of his favourites, and backed that up by saying I’m very involved when it comes to class participation despite my responsibilities and obligations and I look like I have the right head on my shoulders.
Earlier in the year when I first told him I have a son, two jobs and enrolled in 6 courses this semester, he definitely expressed how baffled he was, but still asked that I apply to the student group of which he’s the president. Up to now, I still haven’t applied for the delegate position, but he knows its not because I’m lazy and refuse to bother, but rather because even though I want to, I haven’t the time to do it.
Now, here’s what I’m getting at with this..
I’m not implying that no one is as busy as me because it’s not true, I’ve met people nearly or even busier than myself.. and I understand, most of us can say we’ve really got our plates stacked.. But dear god, what bothers me most is when I either meet or hear about mothers around my age who are obviously not going to school (and I say obviously because they ran with the “teen mom” stereotype and either dropped out or just did not pursue anything further than high school edu.), and lord knows whether they have a job or not, but they definitely spend a hell of a lot of time bitching over twitter and facebook about how hectic their lives are just because they have a child—though as much as they love their child, they’ve got too much going on. Okay. Sure, babies are kind of a big deal..or a lot of a big deal, but fuckin’ man. SUCK IT UP! Most parents have babies when they know they’re ready for it. They maintain their full-time jobs, sure they go on mat-leave for a year, but they continue on providing for their children etc etc and WITHOUT WELFARE. However, I didn’t plan to have a baby at the age I did, but just like me, the moms of whom I speak came across the same blessed fortune of having a baby at a young age and now they are endowed with this responsibility. Whether you planned it or not, you had a baby, DEAL WITH IT.  Bloody hell, I worked two jobs and go to school and take care of my son FOR my son.. but the way I see it, when they claim to be doing everything for their kid, then I suppose that means they DON’T apply for jobs for their kids, they DON’T go to school for their kids, they leach off the government via welfare all for their kids. But god forbid these moms have to even bother with graduating or even handing out resumes…
It seriously SERIOUSLY grinds my gears knowing that I worked hard to get where I am, and there they are making almost equal to what I’m making because they claim welfare and are living under the poverty line without making anything of their life because they’re too busy…with the kids…that they had…in highschool…
Well bulllshhhiiii… Normally, this doesn’t bother me, and I continue to carry on with my daily life whether being told these tragic tragic tragic stories or not, but just moments ago, while working on an essay and studying for my economics midterm on monday, I was in and out of texting a friend and they mentioned someone we mutually know who has a two year old and gets about 1000 bucks a month off welfare and she hasn’t gone to school in two years, doesn’t have a job, has never had a REAL job in her life and leaches off the earnings of her kid’s father. WELL THEN. Lemme just punch you in the face while I finish writing an essay for the educational institution I paid tuition for because I’m NOT a useless nothing in this world..
I’m a young mother and I’m proud to say I’m one busy son of a gun who’s trying to make something of MY LIFE. pce.
